True Bias Ogden Cami slip dress hack

The Ogden Cami by True Bias. Serving the sewing community since its inception. Its that go to pattern that you can squeeze from under 1m of fabric.

I have made the top version which is great in the summer and layering in the winter.

Being in my late 30’s I am old enough to have lived through the fashion in the 90’s, so its recent revival provides me with nostalgia and horror in equal measure! the resurgence of the slip dress is one I can get on board with.

Taking my trusty ogden pattern, I simply laid it over the top of a shift dress pattern which fits me well over the waist and hips.

I lined the centre back and centre fronts together to ensure the grainlines remained parallel. I ensured the bust waist and hip lines of the the two patterns lined up. Then I simply cut the neckline, and armscye from the Ogden and then continued cutting along the the shift dress pattern.

Instead of the partial lining, that comes with the Ogden, I cut a second pair for a full lining in a thin viscose from my stash. When it came to hemming, I made sure the lining was 2.5cm shorter than the shell fabric so that it doesn’t peep out while I am wearing it. I also managed to squeeze out a self fabric belt so I have the option to wear it cinched at the waist.

Oh did I mention this was squeezed from 1m of Atelier Brunette Crepe?! I do like to get as much bang for my buck from my fabrics!
